“Don’t stress, just do your best, forget the rest.” — Andrea’s life philosophy. Photographed by Simona Todorova.

Andrea Videnova wanted to be a plastic surgeon until two years ago when she decided to change her major to business.

“I’m a very emotional and very sensitive person. Being a plastic surgeon is quite tough for a girl. I’m proud to say that although I switched to business I never gave up my dreams,” Andrea says.

Andrea defines herself as an extroverted introvert. She enjoys devoting time to herself but at the same time, she likes to socialize and learn about others.

Andrea is a first-year student that comes from Slivnitsa, a small town near Sofia. She is the only child in her family. “Sometimes I feel lonely but I think it’s better to be the only child because your parents give you the attention you need.”

Andrea has been a vegetarian for two years and places great importance on healthy lifestyle. A queer characteristic of hers is to panic whenever she eats something unhealthy. She says that if she eats a pizza she might think about it two days later. Her healthy lifestyle is not limited to just food. She likes sports and has been practicing Bulgarian folklore dancing for ten years.

Although this is her first semester at the university, Andrea is highly motivated to improve and constantly develop herself. She says her biggest fear is to get depressed and stop working on her goals, which are to be successful, travel, and never stop learning. She is eager to work in the business field and hopes to do an internship after her freshman year.

What influenced who she is today and gave her important life lessons is an event that happened in her childhood.

“I was about 12 years old and my mother got really sick. She had a serious health problem so I had to be alone at home for a month and there was no one by my side. I had to study and concentrate on my goals and just keep working hard,” Andrea shares.

Andrea loves communicating and travelling. She has been to New York, Berlin, Brussels, Amsterdam, and Leon. She points to New York as the most interesting place since it is so different from Bulgarian cities. Andrea connects with people who are confident, intelligent, and positive. “I really like when people smile and maintain a positive attitude.”
